Obituary of Christopher M. Petty

Christopher M. Petty of Wells, Maine formerly of Edgewater Park New Jersey died suddenly as the result of injuries sustained in a car accident on September 6, 2024. Christopher was born August 13, 1985 in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Barry and Elizabeth (Fennell) petty. He was raised in Edgewater Park and graduated from Burlington City High School Class of 2003 where he was involved in the ROTC program and marching band. He was involved in his community and also a member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Burlington. He attended the US merchant Marine Academy at Kings point New York graduating in 2007. He continued his education at PRI in Troy, New York, earning his masters of engineering. He was commissioned in the US Navy reserve, serving eight years and dedicated his entire civilian career to the design, construction and maintenance of nuclear submarines. Christopher enjoyed hunting, ice fishing, and loved camping with his family. His greatest joy was spending time with his sons. He served as an assistant, flag football coach and head coach for the boys T-ball teams. He loved lighthouses, and traveling, he had a great sense of humor and was the ultimate prankster. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Anne, Petty and David and Anne fennell. He is survived by his wife, Kristen (Hatton) Petty, his son’s Noah and Lucas, his parents, Barry, and Elizabeth Petty, and a host of family and friends that will miss him dearly. Family and friends will gather for a memorial mass on this Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 11am at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church 145 W. Broad Street in Burlington city. Local arrangements are under the direction of the CHADWICK MEMORIAL HOME in Riverside, N.J.
