Obituary of George C. Salmons
Please share a memory of George to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
George C. Salmons Jr., 94, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on March 23, 1932, George lived a full and hardworking life centered around the people and things he loved most.
George was predeceased by his loving wife, Vera; his daughter, Patti; his grandson, Jacob; and his sister, Peggy.
He is survived by his sons, Bob (Lori) and Steve; his brother, Bob; his grandchildren, Amy (Todd), Mindy (Joe), Stevie, Dylan (Dominique), Sandra, Olivia, and Sydney; and 13 great-grandchildren, and nephews all of whom brought him great pride and joy.
George was a simple man who loved what he loved — his family, his friends, his animals, Riverside, and his vehicles. He was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a dedicated provider who worked tirelessly for those he cared about.
A proud mason for 45 years with Local 5-NJ, George was admired for his skill, craftsmanship, and strong work ethic. He took great pride in the work of his hands and earned the respect of many throughout his career.
George and Vera shared a love that was evident to everyone around them. Together, they could often be found on the dance floor doing the jitterbug, smiling and enjoying life side by side. He also loved good food, especially seafood, and was well known for making his beloved Manhattan clam chowder.
George will be remembered for his quiet strength, great one liners, and the deep love he had for his family and friends. His presence, and warm heart will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be private.
