Aunt Kathy was beautiful in every way and talented in many (as a poet, a singer, a teacher, etc...)... She had an aura of peaceful gentleness, love and elegance despite her humble modesty. She also had such empathy and compassion for everyone no matter who they happened to be. I remember so many times when her and my mom (cousins) would do extraordinary things to help outcasted folks, downtrodden individuals, etc... She used to take me to set up her classroom, and she wanted me to be her assistant (I was too young). She inspired everyone who ever met her. I remember all the boxes of clothes, heirlooms, photos she would send me as my kids grew up. Did I mention she was a historian? Her Haines family knowledge was so incredible and a treasure. I have the beautiful poems she sent me. She “got” people-important people like my Mommom, Marion Haines, and she made it look easy the way she formed poems that precisely described people and anything in this world. Aunt Kathy will always be one of a kind.
