Obituary of Gladys C. Knaub
Gladys C. Knaub passed away peacefully, family at her side, Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Born in Camden, NJ, July 23, 1928 to Frederick and Margaret (Sheldon) Grimming.
Gladys grew up in Cramer Hill, NJ, graduated Val Victorian Woodrow Wilson High School 1943. She intended to go ointo nursing, but met and fell in love with Clifford (Bud) J. Knaub of Camden, NJ and married on Sept. 20, 1947. They resided in Riverside, NJ for 52 years and raised their seven children. Gladys worked in the Riverside School System and MacMillan Publishing. She was a Cub Scout leader, an active member of St. Peter’s Church as well as the Rosary Altar Society and a member of the Riverside Senior Citizens Club. Gladys was a loving wife, devoted homemaker, maker of the most delicious and sought after chocolate chip cake, an avid reader and enjoyed her WAWA coffee. She enjoyed camping at Lake Absegami and Tom’s Cove on Chincoteague Island, VA starting a tradition of Knaub Family Weekend where she looked forward to crabbing and her son’s clam chowder.
Predeceased by her parents, her husband of 60 years, siblings Bud and Doris, and grand-daughter Denise Lovell.
Survived by her children, Clifford J. Jr. (JoAnn), Susan C., Philip J. (Dorothea), David M. (Helene), Eric C. (Bonnie), Paul M. (Kathy) and Joseph M. (Bethann). Beloved Grandmother to Jennifer, Stephen (Mary), Lauren Byrd (Jason), Shaun Colonna (Kimberly), Christine Congemi (Joseph), Jason, Danielle, Matthew and Taylor. Also a Great Grandmother to 12.
Relatives and friends may pay respects to the family Tuesday November 27th from 9am to 11am at the Chadwick Memorial Home, 154 Webster St., Riverside, NJ, followed by her service at 11am. Interment Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
