Obituary of Charles F. Weller III

Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

“Don’t worry about it.”  It didn’t matter where he was or what he was doing, you could always count on Charles F. Weller III (or simply Fred) to be there for you when you needed him. Part of it came from his job, but most of it came from his heart.

A lifelong Delanco resident, he spent 47 years serving the communities of Delanco and Beverly as the Executive Director of the Sewerage Authority. He was the man who would personally respond to your sewer calls.  This was how a lot of people first met him, but it was only natural to go from a stranger to a friend you always see around.  Indeed, he was always around town; you could find him driving up and down Burlington Avenue, working on his boat at the Hawk Island Marina, or just grabbing a cup of coffee at 7-11.

However, he always found time to take his dog Biscuit out for long walks in Hawk Island, ride around in his Jeep stocked with fishing rods, vacation down at LBI or at his campsite, or to drop everything to spend time with his loved ones and to just ‘go with the flow.’

He was the loving husband of Dorene (Kawczak), the father of Doug (Stephanie) and Ben (Jamie), and the one and only “Pop-Chuck” of Jackson, Avery, Macie, Beckett, and Charlie Cash. He was also a caring son, brother, cousin, neighbor and friend who will be sorely missed by many.

Fred passed away on March 18, 2019 while fighting a private, uphill battle versus cancer.  At his request, he will be cremated and no services will be held. In typical Fred fashion, he did not want anyone to spend their time worrying about him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the M. Joan Pearson Fund (1301 Burlington Ave., Delanco, NJ 08075) to help local students in need. Finally, if Fred has ever done something for you saying, “Don’t worry about it,” please find you own personal way of returning that favor to someone in your life, be the best version of yourself, and live your life to the fullest.
