Donald L. Schaffer passed away peacefully Friday, November 25, 2022, at the age of 78. Don was born and raised in Riverside, moving to Columbus several years ago. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Navy Unit Commendation Medal and upon being wounded, the Purple Heart. He was employed by the Dept. of Defense in the procurement of medical supplies. Beloved husband of 53 years to Kathleen M. Schaffer (nee Camiscioni). Devoted father of the late Kenneth M. Schaffer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday morning, December 9, 2022 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at the Chadwick Memorial Home, 154 Webster Street, Riverside. Mass of Christian Burial 11 am at Jesus, The Good Shepherd Parish, St. Joseph’s Church, Beverly. Interment Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
